Habsburg Palace is the main residence of the Habsburg royal family. Ever since their twin castle was founded in 1020, the House of Habsburg went on striving for glory and imperial power.

Exhibition

The audio tour “Habsburger Königsweg” will make you delve into the history of the House of Habsburg, focusing on who were its members, where they came from and particularly how they managed to come to such overwhelming power. There are six audio stations informing about the historical facts, only the dialogues are fictive. Nine text boards and plates explain each building and construction phase of the castle. Audio dramas retell the story from the oldest part of the castle grounds to the prevalent ruins.

Being up here offers a magnificent panorama view and one will come to understand the strategic point the castle once was built on. Children will love the hide & seek game constructed at their eye level. Visitors may catch a glimpse of an imagined castle life scenery taking place 900 years ago.

The small exhibition in the back section of the castle deals with the history of its construction and settlement as well as with the everyday castle life, nutrition, and water supply.

Restoration

Habsburg Palace is the only palace in the region of Aargau to have an own restoration enterprise.
