Description
Young holiday-makers on Stubai Glacier can look forward to a special adventure: right by Eisgrat top station, a six metre (20 feet) mammoth made of numerous wooden shingles provides a fun space for climbing, sliding and playing.
The absolute highlight of the attraction, a 12m/40ft chute, allows kids to slide down the mammoth's trunk. To get to the inside of the wooden construction, you simply climb up the legs using wall bars, a climbing route or a rope route. Playing tables and a game of Connect Four are waiting inside. Once you've had enough of that, simply chute back out down the trunk slide. In autumn, the mammoth is moved down to Gamsgarten, where it can be foud at the BIG Family Area during the winter.
Historical Information
The playground was designed and planned by NaturIdea from Stubai valley. More than 3,000 wooden shingles of Tyrolean larch, said to be particulraly weatherproof, were used on the 12 ton mammoth. The attraction was opened on the 14th of July 2019.
