Lake Bled in Slovenia is one of the warmest lakes in the Alps. In it lies a small island, on which the church of the Assumption of Mary stands like a fairy tale. Lake Bled is one of the most popular destinations in Slovenia and invites you to take a dip in the cool water, especially in the warm summer months.

The lake was formed over thousands of years by the recession of the Bohinj glacier, which filled the valley basin with crystal clear glacial water. However, due to some thermal springs in the northeast of the lake, the water warms up to a pleasant 23 degrees in summer.

Especially the Bled lido - Grasjsko kopalisce is ideal for swimming and bathing. In addition to easy access to the lake, there are beautiful sunbathing areas with sunny and shady spots. Another beach is located at the Bled campsite on the western shore of the lake.

In addition to excellent swimming opportunities, Lake Bled offers almost countless sports and recreational opportunities. However, one of the most traditional and popular sports is rowing. National and international rowing regattas are regularly held on the lake. You can rent rowing boats for this purpose at the boathouse at the Schlossbad. With a depth of up to 36 metres, Lake Bled is also very popular with divers. In addition to various underwater plants, such as the white and red lotus, there are a variety of fish to see.

Outside the water, the Church of the Assumption of Mary on Bled Island is worth a visit. You can get to the island by one of the traditional rowing boats, the pletna. The flora and fauna in and around the bathing lake offers a great variety of species, which will delight nature lovers in particular. You can explore the flora and fauna on a long walk.

On hills and plateaus there are also great vantage points to overlook Lake Bled. Among the most beautiful places are the Bled Castle and the viewpoints Velika Osojnica and Mala Osojnica.
