Description & Details
In the heart of the Tyrolean Ötztal valley lies the Aqua Dome, one of Austria’s most renowned thermal spas. Surrounded by the Ötztal Alps, the spa combines relaxation, wellness, and recreation under one roof. The thermal water originates from a sulfur spring 1,865 meters deep and fills the indoor and outdoor pools with temperatures ranging between 34 and 36 degrees Celsius.
Relaxing in the Thermal Waters of the Alps
The thermal area extends over several levels and features a total of 12 indoor and outdoor pools. The large indoor pool invites you to unwind with bubble loungers, massage jets, and a lazy river. In addition, there is a saltwater pool with underwater music, an activity pool for aqua fitness, and several relaxation areas offering panoramic mountain views.
Outside, you’ll find the distinctive bowl-shaped pools that appear to “float” above the ground on stilts. These are equipped with lighting and color effects as well as massage and bubble zones. Especially in the evening, the illuminated basins create an impressive atmosphere. Every Friday, the spa stays open until midnight for moonlight bathing, offering a particularly tranquil experience under the stars.
Alpen Arche Noah: Adventure World for Families
The “Alpen Arche Noah” is the dedicated family and children’s area of the Aqua Dome. Designed in the style of a ship, the two-level complex offers countless opportunities for splashing, playing, and sliding fun.
Inside, children can enjoy a large adventure pool featuring a waterfall, lazy river, and bubbling islands. One of the main highlights is the “Snake Island”, a closed tube slide that winds its way through the ship’s deck. For younger guests, there’s a wide family slide that can be used together with parents, as well as a shorter wave slide in the shallow water area for safe fun.
Outside, a heated outdoor pool with a pirate ship and various water play elements invites families to splash around – even during the winter months. Surrounding the pools are comfortable lounge areas for parents to relax, and a family bistro serving snacks and drinks. A separate baby pool with pleasantly warm water completes the facilities for families with small children.
Gastronomy: Enjoy Regional flavors
Several restaurants and bars take care of your culinary needs. The Thermal Spa Restaurant Einkehr serves regional and international dishes, fresh salads, and light cuisine. At the sauna bar, you can enjoy healthy snacks, smoothies, and teas, while the pool bar offers refreshing drinks served directly in the water.
The Unique History of the Healing Spring
As early as the 16th century, the former “Längenfelder Badl” was known for its healing thermal springs. After being forgotten for centuries, this precious natural resource was rediscovered. Today, the thermal water rises from an impressive depth of 1,865 meters at a natural temperature of 40°Celsius, delivering 3–4 liters per second, a true gift of nature.
The Längenfeld water is officially recognized as a sulfur thermal spring, containing 5 mg S²⁻ per liter of divalent sulfur. Originating from glacial meltwater at 3,000 meters above sea level, it seeps through layers of rock, enriching itself with valuable minerals and giving the Aqua Dome its distinctive therapeutic quality.
By the way, those wishing to extend their stay can book a room at the adjacent 4-star hotel, which offers direct access to all thermal spa areas.
Saunas
Behind the term “Gletscherglühen” ('glacier glowing') lies the wide-ranging sauna offer of our sauna world. For any sauna visitor, the perfect sweating temperature will be found easily:
The Loft Sauna features varying seating levels, creating temperatures ranging from 55°C to 115°C. In the Earth Sauna, a log cabin-style sauna built partially underground, temperatures reach around 90°C. Alternating infusions with honey, salt, yogurt, and other natural ingredients enhance the authentic sauna experience. A true highlight of the sauna area is the Herbal Bath, where light and music effects combine with aromatic herbal scents at a pleasant 50°C. The Hay Barn Sauna offers a comfortable 70°C and the soothing fragrance of essential oils. Inspired by ancient Roman traditions, the Steam Dome, designed in white and black marble, maintains a mild 50°C atmosphere ideal for deep relaxation.
A dedicated Ladies’ Spa completes the sauna facilities, offering women a private retreat for rest and wellness.
