Burgos is one of the newer provinces of the Spanish region Castile-Leon which is located within the main land of the country. The equally named capital Burgos is home to important monuments of the time of its prosperity during the Middle Ages. One of them is the famous sight “Cathedral of Saint Mary of Burgos”, which was named a World Heritage by the UNESCO in 1984.
