Route description
Starting in the town centre of Reichenfels you'll be first crossing the Schirnitzbach (stream) using the little wooden bridge. You'll carry on until you reach the farm Teichbauer. To get there you need to cross the B78. Follow the road for further 300 m (328 yards) and then turn right at the sign “Peterer Alm” and pass the farms Hanslbauer, Pirker and Fuchs. You'll stay on the forest path until you get to the farm Bockbauer and then you'll follow the signs leading towards “Peterer Alm” for another 400 m (437 yards) until you reach a path leading through a meadow. Keep to the right until the forest starts. Here the way turns to a forest path. After appr. 1.5 km (0.9 miles) you'll find yourself in a right turn and you'll leave it via a so-called Hohlweg. Further on you'll have to overcome an ascent leading through the forest. This path will directly lead you to the Peterer Hütte. From here the St. Leonharder Alm is not far. To reach the final destination of the tour, the Knödelhütte, you will need to pass through two more mountains huts, the Hirschegger Alm and the Sieben Heufuhren.

- Sturdy hiking boots are recommended on this track. There are places to buy beverages and food along the track. However it’s always recommended to bring enough water and food along with you.

On the way, you'll get to see the impressive rock formation “Die sieben Heufuhren” (engl. the seven hay carts).

Getting here
By car:
Take the A2 Südautobahn (motorway), exit at Bad St. Leonhard and then continue in the direction of Reichenfels.
Alternatively, take the S6 Schnellstraße Semmering (fast track) and then change to the S36 Schnellstraße Murtal. Take the exit at Zeltweg West. Via Obdach you'll get to Reichenfels. You'll find car parks in Reichenfels.
