The oldest hotel in the world
In the heart of the city, just next to the cathedral, Hotel Parador de Santiago de Compostela is located – a five star hotel that does not only offer its guests pure luxury, but also is the oldest hotel in the world. The hotel uses the premises of this Gothic building and offers overnight accommodation to pilgrims.
Built in 1499 by Queen Isabella I of Castile and Ferdinand II of Aragon, both better known as the Catholic Monarchs, an accommodation for pilgrims was created here.
