Description
The 1.6-kilometer-long Vintgar Gorge is located in the immediate vicinity of Gorje and four kilometers northwest of Bled. The rocky gorge was discovered in 1891 and was originally impassable. However, it was soon developed and opened to the public.
Between the vertical walls of the Hom and Boršt mountains, the Radovna River offers an impressive sight with numerous waterfalls, pools, and rapids. A nature trail takes you across wooden walkways and the Žumer galleries to the mighty 13-meter-high Šum waterfall. Along the way, you can marvel at the biodiversity of the gorge's flora. Due to the specific climatic conditions, many different plants thrive here that differ from the flora typical of the area.
