Bathing fun at coasts and lakes

In the north of Germany, the North Sea coast and the Baltic coast invite for relaxing days at sea. Kilometer-long beaches, lonely bays, high dunes and thousands of roofed wicker beach chairs are characteristic for this region. While the gentle Baltic Sea offers elegant lidos and wellness for recreation, the rougher North Sea impresses with its UNESCO world heritage Wadden Sea, beautiful islands as well as ebb and flow.

 

In the country's interior you can find various lakes to cool off. Particularly attractive are the Holstein and the Mecklenburg lake districts in the north, which await with the second largest lake in the country, the Müritz. The “Steinhuder Sea“ in Lower Saxony is another popular destination. South-west of Germany you will find Lake Constance, which is not only Germany's number one, but also number one in Europe. The large Bavarian lakes, like the Chiemsee and Lake Starnberg, ensure bathing fun also in the south-east of the country.

 

In rainy weather, the German thermal baths and adventure pools offer good alternatives. The top thermal baths are Therme Erding, the AquaMagis in Plettenberg, the AQUALAND in Cologne, the Miramar in Weinheim and the Kristall Palm Beach near Nuremberg. An exotic highlight is Europe's biggest holiday world, the Tropical Islands in Brandenburg.
