Route description

The starting point of the hike is the Bettmerhorn View Point, two minutes from the mountain station of the Bettmerhorn gondola (2,647 m). You first walk slightly downhill via "Uf de Setzu" towards Roti Chumma. You constantly have the Great Aletsch Glacier in view on this section and get closer step by step. You then hike on a rock-carved path with stone steps towards Märjela, Märjelensee, and the mountain hut Glacierstube. You return to the sunny plateau of the Aletsch Arena via Unneres Tälli or Oberes Tälli (shorter variant through the 1 km-long, illuminated Tälligrat tunnel). You hike to Salzgäb and then follow the path downhill to the Fiescheralp. The last stage of this dreamlike hike leads you back to Bettmeralp.
