Description & Details
On a total area of 12,825 square metres, the Volksgarten outdoor swimming pool invites locals and guests of the city of Salzburg to swim, splash around and sunbathe. The oldest outdoor swimming pool in the city has two swimming pools as well as a children's pool and a paddling pool. The water temperature is about 22 to 24 degrees Celsius.
Generous lying areas, partly under shady trees, offer enough space for relaxation. Table tennis and volleyball courts are available for active sports enthusiasts. Further equipment includes hot water showers, a drinking fountain, sanitary facilities as well as a buffet for the small or big hunger in between.
How to get there
The Volksgarten outdoor pool is located to the right of the Salzach in the Volksgarten of the same name. Follow the B150/Gaisbergstraße to the roundabout at Hypo Bank Salzburg. Leave this road in western direction onto the B150/Bürglsteinstraße. At the next roundabout take the third exit onto the Hermann-Bahr-Promenade, where the outdoor swimming pool is located.
By public transport:
From Salzburg Hauptbahnhof (Forum) you can take bus number 270 in the direction of Eben im Pongau Bahnhof. After eleven minutes or four stops, you leave the bus at the Salzburg courthouse in Hellbrunner Straße. From there it is about eleven minutes on foot to the outdoor pool. Cross the Salzach over the bridge and turn right on the opposite bank onto Giselakai. Then turn slightly left in the direction of Hundertwasser Allee. Follow this one until it flows into the Hermann Bahr Promenade.
