Description

High above Zell am See, the "Kaiserblick" panorama platform on the Schmittenhöhe invites you to experience the surrounding mountains from a completely new perspective. Located right at the summit, it offers an unobstructed view of numerous three-thousand-metre peaks, Lake Zell and the vast Alpine panorama.
The platform is located directly at the summit of the Schmittenhöhe and can be reached in just a few minutes from the Schmittenhöhebahn mountain station. A 50-metre-long, slightly curved walkway leads to the spacious viewing area. Safety glass elements not only provide a view into the distance, but also into the depths.
On a clear day, the view extends over more than 30 three-thousand-metre peaks, including the Grossglockner, Kitzsteinhorn and Dachstein. Directly below is Lake Zell, whose glistening surface is clearly visible from above. If you would like to combine your stay with a hike, there are several trails directly on site – including the Sisi circular trail.
Historical Information

The name "Kaiserblick" is reminiscent of two prominent visitors to the Schmittenhöhe: Empress Elisabeth, better known as Sisi, and Emperor Franz. Both traveled to Zell am See in the 19th century to experience the impressive mountain panorama. Sisi is said to have climbed the summit before sunrise to watch the dawn in the middle of the Alps. Emperor Franz later spent the night in the summit house. The platform is reminiscent of these historic visits – with a name that is symbolic of far-reaching views and special moments.
