Route description

Start your tour at the bus stop and head towards the natural reserve of Fondotoce. You will get to see an observatory after a short while – it is located right in the middle of a large field of reed. Make sure to take a look around in the observatory and enjoy the beauty of nature before continuing your way on the trails.

A little Bed & Breakfast by the hiking trail marks the beginning of the next part towards Cavandone. The way will go steeply upwards at first before becoming more flat – now truly letting you enjoy the nature you are surrounded by. Next, you will reach a trail behind a farm that will lead your way from Suna to the church in Cavandone. This trail is dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.

From the church you will reach the center of the village across a little set of stairs. Cavandone is known for its old houses and pottery culture. Whilst standing by the main square of Cavandone, the so called Circolo ARCI, you may get something to eat in the neighboring restaurants. Follow the unpaved street to the right from there, which will get you up to the pinnacle of the Monte Rosso mountain.

The way back begins in an equal manner, before heading in the direction of Suna. You will find numerous information boards on this next part besides getting to the Madonna del Buon Remedio oratorio with a magnificent view to the Lago Maggiore.

Whilst following the path for another five minutes you reach the Toraccia, an old watchtower. Further, your way crosses into an asphalted street – you find yourself back in more populated areas immediately. Head down to a pedestrian underpass to cross the busy road. The underpass will take you to the center of the village Suna. There are many bright colored decorations and old looking houses that catch the eye here. You will reach the final destination of this hike when at the lake's shore. There is a bus stop to be found here that offers decent connections to the neighboring areas.
