Until today an army of 5000 men could be equipped with the conserved weapons. What makes the museum in Graz unique is its authenticity. The arsenal was not essentially changed since the 17th century and is still complete. Just the cannonry got lost during the napolian wars. Therefore Graz holds the world's largest collection of historic weapons and military equipment. The arsenal was affiliated to the museum Joanneum in 1892. The weapons were produced in local factories and by the big armourers in Nuremberg, Augsburg and Suhl. The fire weapons were partly produced in Ferlach in Kärnten.
