Description & Details

In the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, at an altitude of 1,100 meters, lies a place where nature, architecture, and deep relaxation meet in a unique way: the "Felsentherme" Bad Gastein. As Austria's first public thermal bath, it blends healing thermal waters with modern wellness culture, nestled within the rock walls and mountain landscape of this historic spa town.
The Felsentherme offers several thermal areas with varying temperatures and facilities, each designed to create a unique wellness experience tailored to your needs.
For those seeking peace, the Silent Spa offers a serene retreat. Surrounded by massive rock walls and warmed by the 32°C thermal water, it’s the perfect place to relax and unwind. The view of the surrounding peaks completes the experience.
In contrast, the Adventure Spa is much livelier: Bubbling geysers, a gently flowing current channel, water massage loungers, and a 70-meter slide add fun and movement to the mix. There’s also a special pool for little guests, while the rock grotto with a thermal waterfall invites awe and wonder.
A special highlight awaits in the outdoor area. In the Outdoor Spa, you can swim in pleasant 34°C water under the open sky all year round, accompanied by rising steam, fresh mountain air, and breathtaking views of the Gastein mountain range. For those seeking a more active experience, the 25-meter sports pool offers the perfect conditions for swimming laps.
Saunas

The sauna landscape of the Felsentherme Bad Gastein spans 600 square meters, offering a variety of options for regeneration. Whether you prefer classic heat or a gentler temperature, there's something for everyone to find the perfect form of relaxation.
The experience is especially intense in the Tunnel sauna and Graukogel sauna, both with temperatures reaching up to 90°C. Regular ritual infusions by experienced sauna masters make a visit here truly special. For those who wish, you can also perform your own infusions in the Tunnel Sauna. A bit milder, but offering expansive views of the surrounding mountains, the Panorama sauna invites you to relax and unwind.
The Pine wood sauna, with walls and ceilings made of real pine wood, creates a particularly natural atmosphere. The pleasant scent has a calming effect and naturally supports relaxation. For a gentler experience, the sanarium and infrared cabin are ideal options—especially for beginners or those with sensitive circulation. The sanarium offers mild warmth and high humidity, while the infrared cabin provides targeted deep heat for muscle relaxation.
Carved directly into the rock, the brine grotto with its salty air and high humidity promotes clear airways and stimulates circulation. This is complemented by atmospherically designed steam baths and a spacious textile-free outdoor area with a sun deck and stunning views of the Hohe Tauern—a place of relaxation with a view.
