Description
You'll want a good head for heights on the Stubnerkogel, at least if you plan to venture onto the suspension bridge, which stretches across a drop of nearly 30 meters and rewards you with a stunning panoramic view all the way to the Großglockner.
Not for the Faint-Hearted
Stretching 140 meters, the bridge runs from the summit restaurant at the Stubnerkogel's top cable car station to a transmission facility. The cable structure sways gently underfoot, and the open design means you can see straight through it at every step, definitely not for the faint-hearted. Its unique construction makes it the first suspension bridge at such an altitude (2,300 m) that remains open throughout the entire year. Anyone looking to take home a memory of their experience on the bridge can make use of the photo point on the north side for the perfect snapshot.
More Attractions on the Stubnerkogel
For those who aren't quite so comfortable with heights, a footpath runs parallel to the suspension bridge along the ridge of the Stubnerkogel. This path leads to further attractions, including the 100-meter Rocky Trail, which winds through steep and jagged rock terrain up to the Glocknerblick viewing platform.
How to get there

The Stubnerkogel sits at the far end of the Gastein Valley. From Salzburg, the route takes you through Hallein, Bischofshofen, and St. Johann im Pongau to Klamm, where you turn left into the Gastein Valley and continue via Bad Hofgastein to Bad Gastein. From there, the Stubnerkogelbahn cable car takes you up to the summit. The suspension bridge is located right next to the top station.
