Nature, Animals & Adventure – All in One Place
Just 20 km southwest of Leipzig, in the small town of Lützen in the Burgenlandkreis district of Saxony-Anhalt, this community-run animal and adventure park is a fantastic day out for visitors of all ages. The enclosures are home to native wildlife including red deer, wild boar, foxes and raccoons, as well as a variety of farmyard animals such as goats, sheep and mini pigs.
A must for animal lovers: The park's newest attraction is a charming little farmyard where children can get up close with friendly goats, sheep and rabbits. The petting area invites little ones to feed and stroke the animals, guaranteed to put a smile on every face!
Families will also love the playgrounds and the Holle-Haus, a rustic bakehouse with a wood-fired oven serving freshly baked bread and homemade treats. Guided tours and animal feeding sessions can be booked in advance, perfect for kindergartens, school groups and birthday parties. From April to October, pony rides and a privately run climbing forest round off the experience.
Historical Information

The park first opened its gates on 31 March 1962, established by the town of Lützen. It sits alongside the Martzschpark, a woodland-style green space that grew out of a charitable endowment by local citizen Karl-Louis Martzsch. While the animal park itself is not part of the original endowment, the two areas blend seamlessly together across a total of 13 hectares, offering visitors a peaceful natural retreat. Both the Martzschpark and parts of the animal enclosures are officially classified as protected woodland.
Today the park is run as a registered association and has continued to grow over the years, with EU funding supporting the addition of an adventure play barn, a themed water playground, and most recently the new farmyard.
