Route description
You start at Hornbach parking lot and walk passed the hospital and the train station Hornbach towards Kitzbüheler Horn. Following the Horn path a couple of metres towards Griesenauweg, you pass the 5 star hotel Tennerhof, one of the first hotels in Kitzbühel. Past Tennerhof continue on Römerweg to the local beach. Now hiking along on the sunny side of Kitzbühel below Kitzsteiner Horn you reach Bauernhaus Museum (farm house museum) Hinterobernau. This is also the final destination. Via Vordergrub and alongside Achenpromenade you get back to the starting point.
Interesting facts
- You're traveling a distance of 2 miles on this easy trail. The hike is therefore not too long. The average length of all hikes in Tyrol is 9 miles.
- You're facing an uphill climb of 104 vertical meters on this hike. The track is therefore relatively flat. The high point of the hike is located at an elevation of 2635 ft.

- In case of good weather conditions, the hike can also be done without bringing your hiking boots. There are places to buy beverages and food along the track. However it’s always recommended to bring enough water and food along with you.
Highlights of the tour
Tennerhof is one of the first hotels in Kitzbühel. Tennerhof's history reaches back to 1416. From an estate it turned into an hotel after World War II in possession of the current owner's grandmother, who took over the property in 1929 and started business after the war. From a 3 star hotel it turned into a 4 star hotel in the 60s and in 2000 finally to a 5 star deluxe hotel.
Another highlight is the view from the suburb back towards city center. From there you can admire Kitzbühel's hotel and mansion architecture. At Bauernhaus Museum Hinteroberau you can experience authentic life on a salzburg/tirol farm. You can discover various adjoining buildings and tools. The farm house opens daily from june 1st- sept. 30th , 1pm-5pm.
