Route description
The hike will start at guest-house Verwall, which is well connected and easy to reach by bus. On the driveway, you will continue into the valley, passing the Verwall-Stausee (Verwall reservoir) on its right-hand side. Finally, you will get to the salt hut, where one will keep to the left of the Rosanna and go through a slightly forested landscape. There are two serpentines to be hiked until the tour will lead you further downhill to a stream. You'll continue through the gently ascending mountain pasture area, passing the Branntweinhütte. After having crossed the Rosanna, one will get to the Konstanzer Hütte on high ground, which is a perfect point and place to rest. The tour continues in the direction of the Schafbichljoch, respectively Friedrichshafener Hütte. You'll follow the steep path through the forest until it leads to a driveway. There you will keep to the right. The path will take you through a forest until you finally enter an open mountain pasture in the Fasultal. Parallel to the Fasulbach (stream), the tour continues into the valley, passing a hunting hut, which is directly built at a rock. Just underneath the Patteriol, the path first surmounts a small terrace and then takes you further passing the junction in the direction of Wannenjoch. And from here you will just need to cross the stream using the bridge leading to the Fasulhütte (2021 m/ 2210 yards altitude), which offers no food or beverages. From here you'll get back to the guest-house Verwall on the same path.

- You're facing an uphill climb of 1298 vertical meters on this hike. The hike takes you to an elevation of 2,695 m.
- Hiking boots are not required, but the hike might be more enjoyable with sturdy footwear (especially in wet conditions). If you get hungry along the way, there are places to rest and get food. Nevertheless it’s recommended to also have enough water and food in your backpack when hiking or biking.
Highlights of the tour
Expect to be amazed by the stunning panorama of the 3056 m/ 3342 yards high Patteriol. Apart from the mountainous landscapes the hike has so much more to offer. You will be hiking through both the Verwalltal as well as the Fasultal and get to see the enchanting Verwall reservoir and be passing many roaring streams.
Getting here
By car:
Coming from Salzburg or Munich you'll reach St. Anton am Arlberg via S16 in the direction of Landeck. Take the exit at St. Anton am Arlberg and continue on B197. You'll turn right after the train station into Dorfstraße. There you'll find car parks. Coming from Stuttgart or Zurich you'll first drive in the direction of Feldkirch and Bludenz on S16. Take the exit Langen a. A./ Klösterle in the direction of Arlbergpass (B197) and turn right into Arlbergstraße. Just before the station you'll turn right into Dorfstraße. Here you'll find car parks. By train, St. Anton is also comfortably reachable. As a rail-jet station many important fast trains will stop there. In St. Anton you can also catch a bus (no. 6) that will take you to Verwall. You'll have to get off at bus stop "Rasthaus".
The tour will start at the guest-house Verwall. It's best if you take the bus no. 6 from St. Anton (bus terminal West) to Verwall (bus stop Rasthaus).
