A visit to the observatory "Max Valier" and the solar observatory "Peter Anich" should not be missed during a vacation in Val d'Ega. Here you can get an insight into the infinite vastness of space, marvel at fascinating views of our sun and get tips for practical sky observation.
The observatory "Max Valier
The observatory has a six-meter dome with a Cassergrain reflecting telescope. The main mirror is 80 cm in size and has a focal length of eight meters. The telescope's computer-controlled alignment includes 19 million celestial objects. There is also a large observation terrace. The seven kilometer long planetary path through the landscape of the Eggental, brings you closer to our solar system with display boards and a lot of information.
Public guided tours
You can visit the observatory "Max Valier" during a public guided tour. These last 1.5 hours and take place all year round on Thursday evenings and from June to October additionally on Friday afternoons.

How to get there
Take highway's exit “Bolzano Nord/Eggental”, turn right direction Bolzano/Bozen, after about 0,5 km on roundabout keep left and head towards Val d’Ega (SS 241). Keep driving up to Ponte Nova. At Ponte Nova’s crossroads, turn to the left and continue to S. Valentino e S. Valentino di Sopra (about 30 min. from highway toll booth).
