A rush of adrenaline and breathtaking views await you at the Skywalk in the Sattel-Hochstuckli recreation area in the canton of Schwyz. The 374-meter pedestrian suspension bridge spans the wild and romantic Lauitobel gorge at heights of up to 58 meters, connecting the Mostelberg with the Mäderenwald. When it opened in 2010, the innovative Skywalk was the longest pedestrian suspension bridge in Europe.

Floating Among the Treetops

Walking across the bridge, you practically float alongside the treetops while enjoying sweeping views over the Ägerital valley and the diverse mountain scenery of central Switzerland. The walking surface consists of metal grating that remains safe to cross even in rain and snow. Between 90 and 180 centimeters wide, the bridge is even accessible by wheelchair and stroller from the top station on one side. The structure hangs from four 50-millimeter steel cables anchored in the ground with 20-meter earth anchors. The bridge is monitored by video cameras as well as wind and level gauges to ensure safe operation at all times.

Open Year-Round — Dogs Welcome Too

The suspension bridge is suitable for both summer and winter use and is open during the operating hours of the rotating gondola. Access to the bridge is included in the gondola ticket, no separate ticket is needed. Those traveling with a dog can borrow special dog booties at the top station. A visit to the suspension bridge can easily be combined with a walk along the BrückenRUNDweg circular trail, which takes around 45 minutes to complete. For a more magical experience, every Saturday evening during the winter months the illuminated lantern trail across the suspension bridge offers a truly atmospheric outing.

Stuckli Rondo Rotating Gondola — A World First

To reach the suspension bridge, you take the "Stuckli Rondo" rotating gondola, considered the world's first 8-person rotating gondola. In around eight minutes, it carries you from the valley station in Sattel up to the Mostelberg top station. During the ride, the gondola slowly rotates on its own axis, treating you to a full 360-degree panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The entrance to the suspension bridge is located right next to the top station.

How to get there

By Car: A small number of paid parking spaces are available directly in front of the valley station.

By Public Transport: The "Sattel, Talstation" bus stop is served by line 507.
