Alpine tobogganing at the foot of the Langenberg

Nestled between the Bruchhauser Steine rock formations and the Langenberg, the highest mountain in North Rhine-Westphalia at 843 metres, Erlebnisberg Sternrodt is a popular destination for outdoor adventures. Here, the Sternrodler alpine coaster winds its way through the scenic Sauerland countryside, passing spruce forests and ancient beech trees. A large adventure playground and a network of hiking trails nearby make it easy to combine your visit with a full day outdoors.

Ride the Sternrodler through the Sauerland

The highlight of the mountain is the Sternrodler, a rail-guided alpine coaster. After the uphill lift ride, you'll set off on an 800-metre descent featuring seven bends, rolling dips and gentle waves. The track drops around 90 vertical metres and reaches heights of up to five metres above the ground in places. You control your own speed using the hand brake, while an automatic braking system provides additional safety throughout the ride.

Beyond the alpine coaster, Erlebnisberg Sternrodt offers a large adventure playground with a variety of play equipment for children. Several hiking trails also begin directly from the site, including routes to the Bruchhauser Steine and the summit of the Langenberg. During the winter months, the mountain is transformed into a small ski area with its own lift.

Food and refreshments

A restaurant with a sunny outdoor terrace is located right next to the valley station. It's the perfect place to enjoy a meal or a drink after your ride or a hike while overlooking the mountain. Thanks to its location along popular hiking and cycling routes, it's also a convenient stop for visitors exploring the region.

From winter ski slope to year-round attraction

The Sternrodler opened in 2002 as a Wiegand Alpine Coaster. Since then, it has expanded the range of activities at Erlebnisberg Sternrodt and helped establish the mountain as a popular destination beyond the winter ski season.

How to get there

Riders control their own speed throughout the descent, while automatic braking systems provide an extra level of safety.
