Description

In the Black Forest, the Triberg Waterfalls are one of the most scenic sights. Not only are these the most famous waterfalls in Germany, but they are also the highest. There is a 163-metre cascade of water here that cascades into a valley. Only a few minutes' walk from the town centre is the main entrance to the waterfalls. The natural spectacle can be reached quickly and easily on foot from the signposted car parks.

You can choose from three trails: the Nature Trail, the Culture Trail, and the Cascade Trail. Along the way, you will also find information boards that tell you about the animals, plants and special features of the waterfall area. The paths are mostly asphalted and in some areas even barrier-free. The waterfalls are accessible all year round. From 10 pm onward, the rushing waters are illuminated, giving you a special view. A visit in the early morning or late evening is recommended. In addition to saving on parking and entrance fees, you will also avoid the crowds. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of the natural spectacle.

There are two types of cascades in the waterfalls. Where the water rushes down into the depths, the upper section forms three main steps. In the lower section of the main falls, there are seven steps; this is a famous photo motif. Several bridges and plateaus provide close-up views of the waterfalls. You also get a glimpse of the valley basins formed during the Ice Age, where the water has disappeared.

How to get there

If you are arriving by car, you can choose one of the following three parking areas.

  • Parking spaces in the city centre
  • Lower car park on Friedrichstraße
  • Middle car park at Scheffelplatz
  • Upper car park Adelheid

If you travel by public transport, you have to get off at the station "Triberg". From here it is only a few minutes' walk to the waterfalls.
