Description

The Blackforestline in Todtnau is a 450-metre suspension bridge in the Southern Black Forest that spectacularly crosses the Todtnau Waterfall at a height of around 120 metres.
The structure weighs a total of 120 tonnes and is supported by a 16-metre pylon and two main cables with a diameter of 76 millimetres. The walkway is 1.20 metres wide and can hold up to 1,000 people at a time. The bridge opened in May 2023 and is the second suspension bridge built by investor Günter Eberhardt, following the Wildline in Bad Wildbad.
A thrilling walk above the waterfall
What makes the Blackforestline truly special is its location directly above the Todtnau Waterfall, also known as the Hangloch Waterfall. As you cross the bridge, you can hear the roar of the Stübenbach stream plunging into the depths below. The bridge blends seamlessly into the landscape of the Upper Black Forest and offers panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Pushchairs and wheelchairs can access the bridge via a separate entrance at the western bridgehead. Dogs are also welcome and can join you free of charge.
Todtnau Waterfall and hiking trails
A ticket for the Blackforestline also includes admission to the Todtnau Waterfall, located right next to the bridge. The bridge sits within the Black Forest Biosphere Reserve and is surrounded by numerous hiking trails. The Feldberg, the highest peak in the Black Forest, is also nearby and makes for a great add-on to a visit to the bridge.
How to get there

By car
There are several car parks right next to the western entrance of the bridge.
By public transport
The "Hangloch" bus stop is served by line 140 and is just under 200 metres from the western bridgehead.
