Description
In Mountopolis, the adventure world of the Mayrhofen cable cars, summer guests can look forward to a truly unique gondola experience: the SkyRide Ahorn. Instead of looking through windows, you'll ascend to the roughly 2,000-meter-high Ahorn Plateau—one of the most popular excursion spots in the Zillertal – under open skies.
What was once reserved for birds is now accessible to up to 30 guests: an open panoramicdeck made of glass and aluminum has been installed on the roof of an existing gondola – featuring a separate entrance and completely unobstructed views. In just 6.5 minutes, the SkyRide glides toward the mountain station at speeds of up to 10 meters per second.
The SkyRide is an addition to the regular service of the Ahornbahn and can be used for a small extra charge – perfect for those who prefer to be amazed rather than seated on the way up.

- 360° panoramic views of the Zillertal Alps
- Open-air panoramic deck on Austria’s largest aerial tramway
- Ride under open skies – feel the wind, breathe freedom

How to get there
The valley station of the Ahornbahn is located on the southern edge of Mayrhofen in the Zillertal. If you're traveling by car, take the Inntal Autobahn (A12) to the Zillertal exit, then continue on the B169 through the valley to Mayrhofen. In town, simply follow the signs to the Ahornbahn. Paid parking is available directly at the valley station.
A more relaxed option is arriving by public transport: the Zillertal Railway takes you to Mayrhofen station. From there, the valley station is easily reachable on foot or via the summer shuttle provided by the Mayrhofen cable cars.
