Route description
A beautiful circular walk with great views across the entire Flachau valley.
The tour start at Berggasthof Latschenhof (going up with the lift starjet 1 & 2 possible - take note of their operating hours) - above the Latschenhof turn into walking path 41 - pass the War Memorial crosses and follow the track to Grießenkareck (1991 m) - carry on via Saukarfunktel (2028 m) to Saukarkopf 2014 m) - take turn off Frauenalm path Nr. 41 - at the fork turn left Nr. 45 - return to Latschenhof
Where to eat
At the start and final point of the round trip you get refreshments at different huts. You can choose between Waldgasthof and Latschenhof as well as the Hofalm and Jandlalm.
After about 1 km walking there is the Kogelalm where you can also make a stop.
When you hike up to the peak Grießenkar and walk down in direction to the Ahornsattel you find again a nice hut "Frauenalm" where you can have some refreshment and you can hike back to the starting point in full strength.
Interesting facts
- You're traveling a distance of 10 km on this moderate trail. Average length of all hikes in Salzburg is 15 km.
- You're facing an uphill climb of 423 vertical meters on this hike. The highest point of the track is 1,986 m above sea level.
- Make sure to bring sturdy footwear on this track. Hiking boots are highly recommended. If you get hungry along the way, there are places to rest and get food. Nevertheless it’s recommended to also have enough water and food in your backpack when hiking or biking.

Highlights of the tour
In the summer main season the ascent with the two chair lifts on the mountain makes everyone happy. At the top of the summit, a wonderful outlook and farsightedness reward all efforts.
Variations
Who wants to make a smaller circular hike can take the right path after the Grießenkareck (path Nr. 45) and hike back to Berggasthof Latschenhof.
Equipment
As parts of the route lead over rocky ground, you should definitely wear trekking or mountain boots.
Getting here
by car
You can reach Flachau easily via the A10 Tauern motorway (exit 66). The car you can leave at the parking space directly in the center of Flachau, nearby the BBF-Center.
by public transport
With the "Sportwelt-Bus" you get to the bus station "Flachau Ortsmitte". From there you can walk to the ground station starjet 1.
