A Playful Introduction to Mountain Biking
The woom bike area is located in Wagrain in the Salzburg region, right at the mid-station of the Flying Mozart gondola within Snow Space Salzburg. Covering around 5,900 square meters, this purpose-built bike area is specifically designed for children, offering a space where playful movement meets first technical riding experiences. The facility is aimed at kids roughly between the ages of two and fourteen and combines a variety of practice zones with diverse and thoughtfully designed trails.
From Balance Bike to Trail: Learning Riding Skills Step by Step
The area is designed to cater to different age groups and skill levels. Even very young children can start on a circular track where they practice basic movements on balance bikes. From there, riders progress to trails with small rollers and simple jump features, making it easier to transition into independent riding on varied terrain. This gradual approach helps build confidence while developing a sense of balance and speed.
A key feature of the area is the skills zone, which includes a range of man-made obstacles. These feature narrow wooden bridges, rock sections, and balance elements that are specifically designed to improve coordination and bike control. While such features are commonly found in larger bike parks, they have been adapted here to suit younger riders, allowing children to gain early experience in a safe and accessible way. In addition, several flow trails run through the area.
One of these trails offers a gentle introduction with a smooth layout and minimal gradient, ideal for beginners. A second trail features steeper sections along with more pronounced turns and jumps, requiring greater control and technique. This progression allows children to steadily develop their skills in a clear and manageable way without feeling overwhelmed.
Easy Access and Family-Friendly Facilities
Located at the mid-station, the area benefits from a particularly convenient setting. It can be easily reached by gondola, with bikes and strollers transported without any hassle. On site, a test center offers children’s bikes along with protective gear for rental. The facilities are complemented by a designated relaxation area for accompanying adults as well as a small food offering. During the summer months, regular supervised training sessions are held, where children can learn and practice fundamental riding techniques under guidance.
Our Tip: Bike Friday
Throughout the summer holidays, the so-called Bike Friday takes place every Friday. This is a free coaching session for children, where young riders are introduced to essential biking skills under professional guidance. The focus is on safe movement, balance, and handling small obstacles.
How to get there

Getting There by Car
The easiest way to reach Wagrain by car is via the A10 Tauern motorway from Salzburg or Villach. Take the exit “Flachau” and continue for about 10 km on the B163 (Wagrainer Straße) towards Wagrain-Kleinarl. Once you reach the village center, turn right opposite Hotel Schattauer. At the next junction, keep left and continue to the turnoff for Haid. Turn left again there, then follow the road straight ahead until you arrive at the Flying Mozart valley station.
Getting There by Public Transport
If you are traveling by train, your destination stations are Radstadt or St. Johann im Pongau, both of which are well connected to major railway hubs. From there, take a regional bus to Wagrain-Kleinarl (line 530 from St. Johann or line 520 from Radstadt). Get off at the stop “Wagrain Ortsmitte,” then change to bus line 531 towards Wagrain – Kleinarl – Jägersee and continue to the stop “Wagrain Flying Mozart Talstation.”
